BARCELONA—Microsoft seemed to drag everyone they could find into their Windows Phone 7 announcement, including all four U.S. carriers and a slew of manufacturers. We asked some of them for their self-congratulatory quotes about the new platform, and a few responded.

The full list includes mobile operators AT&T, Deutsche Telekom AG, Orange, SFR, Sprint, Telecom Italia, Telefónica, Telstra, T-Mobile USA, Verizon Wireless and Vodafone, and manufacturers Dell, Garmin-Asus, HTC Corp., HP, LG, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba and Qualcomm. AT&T and Orange are “premier” carrier partners, which I guess means that the rest of the carrier partners are … non-premier. But as you can see below, Sprint seems to have no hard feelings.

If you can put up with watching self-congratulatory videos, there are more partners smiling and chatting on this official Microsoft video.

On to the quotes:

David Christopher, chief marketing officer for wireless, AT&T: “We take pride in having the best smartphone portfolio in the U.S., and Windows Phone 7 Series will be a significant and integral part of that strategy. 7 Series offers everything we see as essential to success in today’s smartphone market: easy access to apps, integration between social networking, and a platform for gaming and media.”

Mike Hockey, HP: “HP has always had a close relationship with Microsoft. We are very excited to be entering a new era in our smartphone business together with Microsoft, especially as the smartphone market continues to grow and evolve. HP is working even closer with Microsoft to deliver the next generation of smartphones. Aligning with key partners is vital for HP to provide power users with the best possible customer experience. We are working hand in hand with Microsoft to develop signature devices for the next generation of their operating system. Also, we are approaching wireless operators together with Microsoft to ensure all parties are aligned. Additionally, as HP grows its emphasis on the SMB/prosumer market, HP will support this segment with both HP and Microsoft solutions and services interchangeably to best meet customer needs.”

Matthew Parretta, Dell: “Our focus is to create great mobile experiences. Windows Phone 7 Series gives Dell an opportunity to collaborate with Microsoft and enhance our future mobile offerings on behalf of customers.”

Peter Chou, chief executive of HTC: “Windows Phone 7 Series is a significant milestone for Microsoft, the industry and ultimately people looking to do more on their phones. HTC is working closely with Microsoft to bring the unique HTC experience that customers love.”

Steve Mollenkopf, executive vice president of Qualcomm: “Qualcomm has a long history of working closely with Microsoft on Windows Phone, and we are continuing this collaboration to support the launches this year of exciting new Windows Phone 7 Series devices based on our Snapdragon chipsets.”

Fared Adib, Sprint’s vice president of product development: “Sprint and Microsoft have had a 15 year-plus relationship together. And we believe that the Windows Phone 7 Series will continue that relationship into a new decade. We look forward to adding multiple phones to our portfolio and to giving consumers a rich experience across multiple different devices on the Now Network. At Sprint, many of our users have come to rely on and enjoy data experiences for work and play. This is a platform that is very accessible for advanced users as well new users. We believe that the Windows Phone 7 Series will tie together a multimedia experience, a gaming experience and a rich user interface that’s easy to use — and that’s what Sprint customers have come to expect.”

Paul Cole, vice-president of T-Mobile USA: “We’ve been impressed by the smart design of Windows Phone 7 Series and look forward to our continued partnership with Microsoft. We think our customers will enjoy the truly integrated experiences Microsoft plans to deliver.”
